Maibec CanExel is located in East River, Nova Scotia (just outside of Hubbards). The location is 1 minute off Exit 7 from Highway #103, making it an easy commute of approximately 30 minutes from Bayers Lake or Bridgewater.
We are currently seeking a HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN to join our dynamic team.
Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians are part of the Maintenance team who maintain, repair, install, assemble and modify heavy equipment to maximize uptime, quality and production.
Description
Responsibilities
- Performing preventive/predictive maintenance and repairs of equipment including log loaders, loaders, forklifts, trucks, trailers, etc.
- Diagnosing the cause of equipment faults or malfunctions. Using testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required and effecting required repairs
- Cleaning, greasing and conducting routine services on company equipment
- Maintaining a daily record of all work tasks and materials
- Completing daily job hazard assessments
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Maintaining a clean and tidy personal work area
- Supporting and encouraging continuous improvement in work practices
- Performing other related work duties as required
- Willing to work overtime & able to work in accordance with plant safety rules & regulations
Qualifications
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
- Must have basic tools & secure additional tools according to work demand
- Must be in good physical condition; able to climb, crawl and work in confined areas
- Must have a good safety record
- Must be willing to take training courses for trade upgrading
- Must be able to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection and safety boots
Skills
- A Nova Scotia G-5 Gas Operator License would be an asset
